Bakemono no e 化物之繪 (Brigham Young University)

Bakemono no e 化物之繪 (alt. title Bakemonozukushie 化物尽繪) is an early Edo-period handpainted scroll depicting 35 bakemono--ghosts, demons and other supernatural phenomena. Students will annotate each bakemono with background information, including names and alternate names, origins, history, geographical distribution and variants, legends and tales, modern influence and appearances, and image comparisons.
