Kasen 哥仙 (Brigham Young University)

Kasen was printed c. 1655-1673, likely in Osaka. It includes the 36 Immortal Poets with a portrait and one poem each. Probably based upon the Saga-bon version of Sanjuurokkasen from the early 17th century. This book is in an unusual format for kasen books--it is a yokohon 横本, which was typical of otogizoushi of the time. 

Students will transcribe and translate each poem.
