A Variorum Story of the Stone
增評補圖石頭記 This project aims to construct a full variorum edition of the celebrated eighteenth-century novel The Story of the Stone (石頭記, known also by the name of its 1791 imprint Dream of the Red Chamber 紅樓夢). Beginning with nineteenth-century imprints with commentary, we will gradually include manuscript editions with manuscript commentary. A Yale graduate seminar, to be held in Spring 2016, will collate and translate full commentaries.
